The Groups Pastor plays a vital role in fostering a culture of biblical community across every life stage.

Job Overview

The Groups Pastor is responsible for overseeing the small group ministry for all adults at Keystone Church. This role focuses on launching new groups, developing group leaders, equipping and supporting existing groups, and connecting new people into community. The Groups Pastor will collaborate with other church leaders to align group strategy with the mission and vision of Keystone.

In addition to leading groups ministry, this role includes oversight of a Guest Experience volunteer team on Sundays, as well as supporting the planning and execution of church-wide events.

 

Key Responsibilities

Small Groups Ministry Leadership

  • Champion the vision of biblical community through groups for every adult life stage.
  • Develop and implement a strategy for launching new small groups throughout the year.
  • Recruit, equip, and care for small group leaders, providing ongoing training and encouragement.
  • Create and manage a clear on-ramp for new attendees to get connected into a group.
  • Develop and curate curriculum and study materials for small groups.
  • Track group health, participation, and effectiveness using available tools and systems.
  • Collaborate with the Communications Team to promote groups in alignment with church-wide initiatives.

Leadership Development & Pastoral Care

  • Provide pastoral care and spiritual support for group leaders and participants.
  • Create a healthy leadership pipeline by identifying and mentoring future leaders and coaches.
  • Ensure that every group leader feels supported, celebrated, and equipped.
  • Encourage a strong culture of discipleship and multiplication.

Weekend Volunteer Leadership

  • Lead a dedicated Guest Experience volunteer team on Sunday mornings.
  • Coordinate with the broader Guest Experience Ministry, including greeters, hosts, parking, and first-time guest teams.
  • Build team culture, equip leaders, and ensure an excellent and welcoming Sunday environment.

Church-Wide Events (Support Role)

  • Assist in planning, coordinating, and executing church-wide events, such as holiday services, outreach events, or campus-wide initiatives.
  • Collaborate with other staff and volunteers to ensure excellence and alignment with the overall vision.

Must-Haves

  • 2–3 years of ministry experience, preferably in adult discipleship or small groups.
  • Proven ability to develop leaders and build healthy teams.
  • Strong understanding of group dynamics, leadership development, and spiritual formation.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • A clear passion for helping people grow in their faith and find lasting community.

Nice-to-Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in ministry, theology, or a related field.
  • Experience creating or curating group curriculum or study resources.
  • Familiarity with Planning Center, church management systems, and team communication platforms.
  • Experience supporting large-scale ministry or outreach events.
